The Helpdesk system is built like a web site using the miva script language and compiled for
security and speed. The advantage of this is that unlike many systems which are designed to run on
a Windows PC or a specific type of web server this system can be installed on any PC or virtually
any type of web server.
The only requirement is to have the Miva Virtual Machine installed which
is available free for any use from Miva Corporation. This is the processor that
runs the scripts to make it all work. For more information go to the

Helpdesk is accessed simply using Internet Explorer or any other web browser.

Running on a web/network server
If you want to install the helpdesk system on a server you will either need to
use a host that provides the Miva VM or it can be installed yourself.
The advantage of installing on a web server is that the system can be accessed
from anywhere with an Internet connection. So if you have many offices requiring access this would
be the best option. |

Running on a PC
For installation on a PC you will need to install the Miva Mia VM which is also
free.
If it is only to be used in one office then it is easy to install on a PC using
any Windows operating system. |

Initial Setup
When the system is first installed it creates the database tables which store the reports.
Additional tables store settings for the various lookup tables so that these can be changed. The
system can be setup either with a login enabling multiple users to have varying levels of access or
the login can be bypassed if it is only for use by one person, typically when setup on a PC.
Flexibility
It is highly flexible allowing changes to be made either by an administrator such as adding
users, contractors and changing the lookup lists. In addition if other changes are required, for
example adding other access levels or additional fields in the entry forms we can make these
